I don't think that's the problem, however, as we manually cleared the vlan settings, plus on at least one phone we did a full factory reset before plugging in again. The grandstreams don't have vlan pre-configured, as I can tell.
If I plug a new one out of the box into a port still pointing via ip-helper in the cisco switch to our old dhcp server Linuxit will get an IP. If we try it on a port going to the new server windowsit gets nothing. Maybe this is a question for the the windows forums rather than VOIP?
If you see the request hitting the DHCP server, and no response, then something funky may be happening on the server although if it is responding to other requests then it is probably finehowever, it could very well be responding to the client and the client is ignoring it. DHCP is a 4 step process.
You may be sending a response back to the grandstream but it might not be acknowledging that the server responded in step Could be something as simple as a firewall on the grandstream I think they do simple nat Wireshark is the only way to know what is truely happening on the server and if it is truely responding and if there isn't anything coming from the grandstream back asking for an address. If there are vlans, the request could be hitting the grandstream and it is attempting to respond back on a vlan that doesn't exist and the request is going into a black hole.
